Mordheim 2019 – Filip Petersson

It’s time to continue presenting the warbands of Mordheim 2019. This strange cult, the Godwood Coven, was created by the Boschian disciple Filip Petersson.

“The Godwood Coven – They roam mordheim for wyrdstone to feed their to their god-tree, once satiated, it will birth the apocalypse.”

Following my recent obsession with Hieronymus Bosch, I set out to make a Mordheim gang inspired by his art. Weird, medieval and detached from humanity. Some imperial scholar’s warp-fuelled interpretation of what chaos would look like. Some of the miniatures were based directly on Bosch paintings, while others were loosely inspired. I ended up using an eclectic bunch of bitz, and where bitz weren’t enough, I just ended up sculpting my own parts.

Though using Cult of the Possessed rules, I envisioned them more as demons than cultists. They could be men who spent such a long time in the warp-hell of Mordheim that they transformed into something Other, or maybe just spawn from the warp itself. Their backstory was an afterthought, I mostly just wanted an excuse to make some kooky creatures.

We house-ruled that if I managed to gather twelve wyrdstones during the event, the Godwood would spawn an angel, using some toned down Daemon Prince rules. I only gathered about seven stones or so, but the event was a blast nonetheless!
